A low-growing, mat-forming perennial with a vivid golden yellow foliage of needle-like leaves, turning a copper-orange in winter. Clusters of tiny star-shaped yellow flowers appear in midsummer. Spreads quickly and can be used as a groundcover.

Young plant - cooked. A famine food, it is only used when all else fails. Additionally, it was used as an herbal remedy for diphtheria, ringworm, and also scurvy due to the high content of vitamins found in the plant. Finally has been used to treat itchy rashes, ulcers and for the topical treatment of warts, acne, dermatitis and corns.
