This perennial offers foliage interest early in the season then a colourful display of flowers in the fall. Strong stems produce broccoli like buds in midsummer opening to flat, light pink flower heads. Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society 1993.

Edible/Medicinal Uses:

Young plant - cooked. A famine food, it is only used when all else fails. Additionally, it was used as an herbal remedy for diphtheria, ringworm, and also scurvy due to the high content of vitamins found in the plant. Finally has been used to treat itchy rashes, ulcers and for the topical treatment of warts, acne, dermatitis and corns.
