A dense, multi-stemmed deciduous shrub with a compact, rounded form. Purple foliage throughout the season turning to bright red in the fall. This spiny shrub can be used as a hedge to deter trespassers. New growth emerges red in spring. Tiny clusters of yellow flowers in mid-spring, followed by red berries carried in abundance from early to mid-fall.
