A old-fashioned, multi-stemmed deciduous shrub with an upright, spreading habit of growth. Ideal for small landscapes with large, full, double, purple-red, highly fragrant blooms on attractive prickly stems blooming in early to mid summer. To encourage re-blooming, dead-heading is recommended. Produces an abundance of red hips in mid to late fall adding a fall interest. Features dark green foliage throughout the season, turning to a orange colour in fall.
