A large, open, multi-stemmed thorny shrub, with a more or less rounded form. Features narrow, silver foliage throughout the season. Tiny yellow spring blooms. Ornamental orange berries are held from mid-fall throughout the winter, providing a significant winter interest. Fruit is excellent for making jams and jellies. Only female plants produce fruit.
