Monstera
Monstera deliciosa
Monstera are a very popular low-maintenance houseplant. Commonly referred to as Split Leaf Philodendron, or Swiss Cheese Plant, They prefer morning sun or bright indirect sunlight and thrive in moist, well-draining soil. Regular misting is recommended to prevent pest infestation and keep the edges of the leaves from browning. Because Monsteras grow up trees in their natural habitat, a moss pole will help your plant continue growing upwards. These plants are easily propagated by cuttings. Fertilizing once per month with a thin layer of compost or diluted low-potency chemical fertilizer is advised during spring and summer. Although uncommon, Monsteras around three years of age can flower, which then becomes an edible fruit.
